This program is designed for people who need to take the CAEL test to certify their level of English before enrolling in a Canadian university.
WHAT IS THE CAEL TEST?
The CAEL test (The Canadian Academic English Language Test) is used to assess a student's level of English proficiency before enrolling in a Canadian post-secondary institution. The CAEL test provides an accurate representation of the English language used in a Canadian university setting.
Over 180 Canadian universities accept this test as proof of level, including universities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories and Nova Scotia.
There are two types of CAEL test:
- CAEL Test Center: The CAEL in-center test is a computer-based test, and students can take this test internationally.
- CAEL Online: The CAEL online test is available to students residing in Canada and the USA. Students can take the test from home, but it is essential to meet the prerequisites before taking the exam.
The exam costs 280 Canadian dollars (+ tax), lasts 3.5 hours, and tests listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.

Our CAEL preparation courses help students acquire the language skills they need to pass the exam. Our goal? To develop our students' fluency and independence so that they can read articles, listen to lectures, answer questions and write short essays for the CAEL test.
TEACHING METHODS
Preparation for the CAEL test can be done via Google Meet or by phone, whichever is most convenient for the student.
It is possible to cancel a course or change a schedule without penalty with 48 hours notice. At Global Lingua, the study area contains your class schedule, assignments, learning objectives and class notes exchanged between you and your teacher. If you want to do exercises outside of class, you can ask your teacher for assignments. You can also ask your teacher to do mock exams for the CAEL, in order to practice in real conditions.
COURSE DURATION
CAEL preparation classes are held at a time and frequency that is most convenient for the student. Typically, students choose to take 30-minute or one-hour classes, before taking longer classes when they feel comfortable.
