Learn more about our courses for TCF for Quebec.

What is the TCF Québec?

The TCF Québec is a French test designed by France Éducation international and recognized by Québec’s Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI). It is modular, so you only take the sections your program requires: listening, reading, speaking and writing. Your results are converted to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français, Québec’s French proficiency scale, which runs from 1 to 12. Whether you apply through the PSTQ or the Québec Experience Program (PEQ), the usual requirement is level 7 in listening and speaking, roughly equivalent to B2. Many applicants also need level 5 in writing. Results are valid for two years and must still be valid when you submit your application in Arrima.

who is this course for?

This course is for people who plan to immigrate to Québec and must prove their French level to the MIFI. This includes applicants to the Skilled Worker Selection Program (PSTQ) and, during its application intake periods, the Québec Experience Program (PEQ). Both programs lead to a Québec Selection Certificate (CSQ) and then to permanent residence. With your teacher, you focus on the sections your program requires and work first on those where you haven’t yet reached the target level. Good to know: the MIFI also accepts the TCF Canada. If you are considering both Québec and another province, take a look at our TCF Canada preparation course.
